Joe Martin, established St. Francis Vineyard in 1971, planting 22 acres of Chardonnay & 60 acres of Merlot. He opened the winery in 1979 with partner Lloyd Canton. Dark berry fruits, spice & cedar aromas. Black cherry and blackberry flavors with tobacco, oak and vanilla spice. Well structured fine tannins lingering, complex ending with subtle earthy tones. Very Nice, easy drinking will age a bit.

Second bottle after the '10 Jordan at my celebration of life dinner. Much bigger than the Jordan with big-time bottom notes an a bit of blackberry but still doesn't lose the character of Bordeaux that appeals to me. I love the complexity and appreciate the way that it doesn't go for the easy appeal.

You can find a lot in this wine. Liqueur cherry, blueberry, leather, smoke and pepper. If I let my imagination run wild - I would add something herbal.

Big luscious red. Dark purple, full blue and black fruits. Enough acid and round tannin to support it all.
