Just concluded our annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.
Nose has over-ripe plum, blackberry jam, baking spice, whole vanilla bean and noticeable alcohol (even after ~1 hour decant).
Palate has blackberry-plum jam, raspberry, cedar (light) and ripe black cherry. Finish is quite long, somewhat expected though, with light tannins.
We've been cellaring the SW LBV bottles for many vintages, always proving to be a great value and accessible decades ahead of their true vintage counterparts. Serious amounts of sediment in the bottle, more than I recall on earlier LBV bottles. I expect the high alcohol aromas will dissipate within 24 hours.

Dec 28th, 2023Picked this up from local Alko as my Kopkes ended up lost somewhere on their way. This has quite broad array of licorice, smoke, oak and various red and dark berries flowing through both nose and palate. It's quite dense but manages to stay away from being cloying. Taste ends eith nutty and raspberry notes. This works great with various chocolate desserts when slightly cooled to freshen up the mouthfeel. We had this with chocolate cheese cake that ended our Christmas dinner.
