It's good. But for the price...

California wine ain't it.

Last ‘16 bottle. A blend of 85% Cab Sauv, 7% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot & 3% Cab Franc. Deep Ruby with aromas of fresh dark fruits and some minty notes. The palate shows plums, blackberries and black cherries with sweet spice and notes of cacao. This is a consistent wine and a good value, this is my house Cab. The finish has good length, firm tannins, on the smoother side, and is well balanced. Past it’s prime drink now.

Overrated. I’ll go as far as to say all Napa wine is overpriced these days.

Like… it’s good. But really, I can buy a better Italian wine for half the price.

These days, the best American wine is coming from Oregon, not California. Don’t @ me.

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here's a nicely aged 14 year old from Napa Valley.

Dark purple in color with a short purplish rim.

Great nose of blueberries, blackcurrants, plums, black cherries, wood, vanilla, earth, forest floor, river rocks, leather, pencil lead, chocolates, vinaigrette, light alcohol, spices, peppercorn and black tea.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs, soft and graceful.

Dry on the palate with blueberries, cherries, raspberries, leather, smoke, chocolates, coffee, pencil lead, earth, vegetables, spices, bitter herbs, wet leaves, wood, vanilla, cloves, vinaigrette and dark coffee.

Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a great aged Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Fruity and balanced with earth notes and chocolates.

Showing great complexity with a nice mouthfeel. Soft and elegant. Reminds me of an aged Left Bank Bordeaux a little.

I really enjoyed smelling on it for a long time. A good sipping wine too, Interesting and one to talk with friends about.

This was a nice surprise. I did not think this inexpensive Cabernet would age so nicely.

Good by itself or with food. I paired it with light appetizers and a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

Thank you Wendy for sharing this with me.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

This bottle came from the winery recently; which means its been stored perfectly and had little to no movement. With that said, it is still youthful 23 years later.

The fruits were ripe and beautiful. Blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, deep dark spice with heat that intensified the longer it was open and sat on the palate. The mouthfeel satiny but still showing structure and tannins. Crushed rock, leather, green bell pepper on the nose & palate; which usually says they had issues with the ripping of their fruit. All and all a good wine. Beautiful acidity with a balanced, elegant finished that persisted a very long time.

Thank you Jeremy for bringing.
