May 4th, 2023Like no other Dolcetto I’ve tried. Loads of black cherry fruit yet still rustic. None of the dark ink notes I get in other top examples. Great balance and freshness. I’m still partial to San Fereolo but this may be my new #2 dolcetto.

Nov 18th, 2020Great value, juicy red and black frit, vibrant acidity, gentle tannins, 12.5% ABV, easy to drink but with enough complexity to stand up to red meat.
Production details: Fermentation in large wood casks with pied de cuve from indigenous yeas lasting ten days. Ancient technique of maceration by splinting the submerged cap (?) process which lasts for at least 90 – 100 days. The wine is then aged in a neutral oak barrel for approximately one year.

I really like this wine. It's such a classy Dolcetto. Savory and floral in a midweight style and chewy tannins. Terrific wine and amazing to have a bottle from one of the very top Barolo producers for under $20.

Aug 14th, 2018Always competent if not very good-this had less of that cozy mouthfeel from past vintages & has a more pointed, nebbiolo style attack(ie acidic).

Sep 14th, 2017Crazy value, tons of flavor, lots of fruit, but very grounded by honest earth, light, clean, great with food, scary that they can do this for 17 bucks. Real handmade wine.

6 people found it helpfulNov 20th, 2013There is Dolcetto, and then there is Roagna Dolcetto. I have been drinking this since the 2006 or so vintage and this is the best version yet. Cheap, generous, with snap and juicy dark red fruits. Gulpable with a bowl of pasta, a harmonious pairing with sage spiked lamb bolognese. Only 12% abv!! Back up the truck and drink it right away, this is best fresh and not for aging. #roagna
