Cherries, pomegranate, tomato and leather, finish is clipped with quite a bit of piquant blood orange/grapefruit, to the point that I’m thinking it might have been a flawed bottle. Or maybe it just needs time? Not up to the usual lofty Lopez standards either way

Ou vey. Straight from the winery. This is gorgeous. Soft and floral with perfectly resolved fruit. Delicate cherry and plum. Beautiful intense yet light perfectly aged fruit. Long and delicious

2010 from magnum. No internet where I was in the Loire, so notes from memory for the next 7-wines or so. Medium bodied, dark fruits, dill, earth, nice acid and a very long toasty finish. Drinking great now.

Off the list at Chambers in NYC. Deep tawny color. Barely translucent. Great nose. Notes of black cherry, mocha, some wood and a nice spice. Well integrated tannins, silky fruit and a good structure all in balance. Pretty darn good wine.

Sipping Fine Wine

Medium Ruby red with an elegant bouquet of ripe berry fruits, spice with earthy tones, a traditional Rioja, adding in some oxidation notes because of its age. On the palate, the wine was silky smooth with layers of flavors, berry/cherry, tobacco, smoky cedar, dark fruit, vanilla spice, well balanced with fine tannins and a clean structure ending with a long finish and slight oxidation character.
