Great Beaune red. 2019. Nice balance. Pretty red fruit.

Tart rhubarb, and dried cherries and dusty earth - a very subtle wine with some nuances but the fruit is fading fast. No upside to keeping this. Drink up.

Nose is delicate and detailed: sweet, high-toned cherry, light baking spice, limestoney minerality, faint wood. Lean, zingy, and intense, with lots of tart cherry and cracked stone minerality. Mouthwatering acids. Not a crowd-pleaser, but quite good.

At the end of its life but still showed some incredible depth. The original notes of balsamic reduction and sweet pipe tobacco opened up to shine some light on the core of stewed strawberry and rhubarb. Almost completely secondary and tertiary at this point. Would’ve struggled to guess Pinot.
Went nicely with barley risotto.
