Very closed initially, but quickly started unfurling. Very pure nose has pristine blackberry and black cherry, along with a salty, sandstony thing, and smoky balsa wood. Soft and lush in the mouth, with clingy flavors of dark berries, graphite, and savory minerality. Tannins abundant but soft. Concentrated, long, and balanced. Very nice now but obviously will last and maybe improve over the next 5 years.

Ignites on the tongue; spicy with some bell pepper earthiness underlining a new world fruit basket. Wouldn't choose it. Wouldn't throw it away.

2013 vintage.Fruity and easy-going with high acidity that seems a bit unbalanced (wonder if this wine was acidified?).Clean and well-made but gives me the impression of a very technical wine that lacks soul. Rather expensive at 15 euro.

v13. Very good! Soft smoked meat nose. Fresh blackberry fruit. Bright, slightly astringent , black pepper, mocha and soft leather finish. Nicely balanced!

Craig really enjoyed this; surprisingly smooth for a Shiraz with full flavor and an easy finish

Big and muscular, but I wouldn’t call it jammy or a fruit bomb. Maybe the mataro mellowed it a bit? I like Aussie Shiraz, and Penfolds is usually very good ( as was this). Big plum/ cherry action. Thanks bro.
