Paul Hobbs
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
A sleeper surprise and in a perfect drinking window. Loaded with singed jalapeño and aromas of damp earth. Velvety tannins. Kept getting better in the glass moment by moment.

Sep 3rd, 2020Dark purple and opaque core fading out to a violet rim. A ripe and alcoholic nose full of black fruit, chocolate, and green pepper. The palate was full and not well balanced with gritty tannins, high alcohol, and low acid. Candied and ripe black and blue fruit dominate with a touch of graphite. Med complexity and length. #paulhobbs #napavalley #california #ctbucklinwine

Oct 17th, 2016Showing the great 2007 vintage in spades, though 2002 at its peak is still better. Black cherry, sweet currants and well integrated oak. Huge tannins that are saturated in fruit! So obviously good its criminal.

May 11th, 2013From back when I could afford Paul Hobbs (well, I can still manage the Napa bottlings, just not the To-Kalon anymore!). This one was excellent through and through. Probably has several years of life left, but my sense is that it’s definitely on the downslope.

Jan 10th, 2021Well it is very concentrated fruit and a lot of apparent oak. I feel this is a somewhat typical Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that could be a little bit more subtle. High alcohol at 14.9. Probably actually higher. Still aging nicely and could go for a long while. Perhaps another 10 years. Some nice cassis but followed by overripe fruit. Stewed blackberry, cherry and an earthiness that is quite pleasant.
