DRY! 80$ at Mr. A’s in San Diego a ridiculous deal for the 1% in the know. Yes it happens the great little bottle underpriced for what it is. Riesling Dry Auslese and 29 years old. 12%. Cork in excellent condition. Beautiful wine. Light on its feet. Petrol yes but not to much. Touch bitter. Bee’s wax. Faint Smoke. Tart back palate - it has some tannins. First pass I thought not enough acidity. Now 5 hours later / perfect. I would drink this as an aperitif before dinner and then again at the end. Kudos to the crazy Sommelier who still takes risks!!!!

1997 vintage. Last tasted 9.4.25 (9.2). This time, tasted with @Pinotman /// Andreas. Nice fill and good cork (no Durand needed). Light-medium body. 12% ABV. Some lighter, barely-sweet petrol flavor but limoncello impressions started to take the stage and sing like the headliner. Really intriguing and fascinating as a “dry” Auslese. Should be able to perform at this clip for another 4-5 years. No April Fools joke here. 5 bottles left at $80 a pop. 4.1.26.

@Delectable Wine this is the Kreuznacher Kahlenberg auslese trocken. Seemingly a novelty as from what I’ve read this is the only year they have produced a dry auslese. The nose is tertiary with dried orchard fruits, dried pineapple, hint of petrol, dried oregano and mint. The palate has a honeyed component of dried apricot and dried pineapple. High acid. The finish falls off quickly which might be indicative that it is over the hill slightly. Lacks a bit of concentration and with some residual sugar would likely be improved. Still, an enjoyable wine.

1997 vintage. Great golden color. Light-medium body. A bit of spice, a hint of sweetness added up to a nice ride. Good length of a dry finish. Auslese dialed back more than a bit. 9.4.25.
