Passopisciaro Terre Siciliane Nerello Mascalese
From magnum. Ruddy ruby. Tart red fruit, cranberry, with a savory but not outright herbal undertone. Resolved tannins. A good match to homemade bolognese. Ready to go, or perhaps a bit past peak.

Dec 8th, 2019Medium crimson in colour - great clarity. Light to medium bodied with red fruits and plenty of earthy minerality. Low tannins and medium acid. An excellent example of the Northern Etna style - predominantly Nerello Mascalese. A good red for a warm Christmas Eve in Australia.

Nov 15th, 2017Pale crimson. 100% Nerello Mascalese. Have had the 2014 back in Oz which was good. 50,000 bottles made of this and great QPR. Drink now no cellaring required.

Oct 11th, 2017Nerello Mascalese can age beautifully. Dusty tannins wrap around a core of raspberry and mulberry and cranberry that are leaning towards earthier flavors of leather and clay. Excellent acidity and as always that crushed stone minerality that makes these volcanic wines so compelling. You’d never guess this was 15.5% alcohol. Yes, Etna is warm.

Jul 8th, 2017(These are night 2 notes. On night 1 it seemed tired and a bit hot.)
On night 2 this seemed more youthful than the first night. Nose showing warm sandstone, spice cake, and ripe crushed cherry. Mouthfilling but athletically lean, with excellent acidity, particularly for a wine that has 15.5% abv. Long, pure finish with some puckery soft tannin. Great with a rich, meaty tomato-based pasta sauce.

Showing much better than the 2012. Color was vibrant. Great mix of fresh blue and red fruit as well as white pepper and herbs. Palate was restrained and well structured with a hint of sourness. More drying than unctuous. Fine finish. #passopisciaro #etna #mtetnawine #sicily #italy #nerellomascalese #ctbucklinwine
