Langhe Nebbiolo
Ruby red color with aromas of dark berry fruit, smoke and earthy herb spices. On the palate this Nebbiolo showed flavors of cherry and plum, with licorice and oaky pepper spice. Fine soft tannins on medium+ finish ending with smoke and earthy character. Nice value! Drink now!

Jan 10th, 2023Probably a bit wary to open up a 2017, but decanted it awhile and it opened right up. Beautiful cherries, strawberry, tar and brambles with some dried rose hips and herbs on the nose. Firm tannins (could use more age), alcohol a bit overly prevalent - my guess is the 14% on the label is much closer to 15% than 14.0. But that adds a nice body and texture. Very clean. A good value for this quality wine.

Apr 18th, 2020Ripe Nebbiolo fruit in the forefront with good varietal character and a decent earty complexity. Balanced and good structure with defined, but approachable tannins, lacking somewhat in intensity and length.

Jun 10th, 2018Tart, unripe tannins and dito acidity, tell the story about a tricky vintage and a greedy grower. Avoid.

3 people found it helpfulSep 7th, 2016Saturday nights all right for wine. I have opened the 2015 Paolo Scavino Langhe Nebbiolo 14.5% Alc. by Vol.
On the nose there is cherry, raspberry, anise, mint, rose petal, light leather and dry soil.
Upon first sip this is a dry wine on the palate with tart cherries, raspberry, anise, floral notes, herbaceousness and an earthy component.
A medium to.full bodied wine with medium + acidity and medium + gripping tannins that leads to a pleasingly clean long finish. This can definitely use more time in the bottle and can only improve over time. Enjoy your rest of the weekend and continue to be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

This wine has a great grape-typical nose and balanced initial mouthfeel, but is overpowered midpalate by an enormous tannin structure that continues into an astringent sandy finish.
