In its prime. I didn’t decant for fear of shocking it, and that was the right move. Pop it now if you have it because it’s a beauty from stem to stern. The nose pours out of the bottle with all kinds of flavors and expressions- pencil lead being a primary- but as it had a chance to breath and express itself it blossomed. Lush yet powerful, naturally as it’s blend would indicate it reminded me of some of what I like so much about Bordeaux.

Special night with Kuan Lim at Lucky Palace restaurant. Always a special occasion when drinking with him. I think this wine has hit its stride. Tannins softer than I expected. Good dark fruit with almost a milkiness to it. Went well with Duck on Scallion Pancakes. QPR, not so much. Special occasion wine = yes.

Again, a freakin steal and cheap enough at $184 for me to try Opus for the first time in a decade. This is a beautiful wine, so kudos to Michael Silacci. Yes you heard me, $184!!!!

A friend had a “reduction party” as he was needing to thin out his cellar. Definitely a party I’m happy to attend!

They can be easy to razz, but the quality and age ability here is no joke. Drinking beautifully right now. Dried fig, ripe cranberries, toasted blackberries, saddle leather, herbs de Provence, and potpourri leap from the glass. Powerful yet elegant on the palate, revealing soft and warmed red and black fruits, bayleaf, and truffled mushrooms. Very enjoyable.

Very nice Opus vintage, fruit had mostly faded but the cola, anise, coconut flavors are riding high. Nice tannic alcohol backbone balanced by some acid

Elegant, blackberry and spice. Subtle herbal notes. Nicely balanced but I was hoping it would be more expressive.

Fantastic, more towards a peak age than i thought it would be. This is drinking spectacularly right now, tasting like a vinous bordeaux. Extremely lengthy finish.

Preparing for Napa. Best Cab had in a long time. Silky, with blackberry, black pepper, coffee, and dark plum. Great finish and acidity. thanks @Tina Dickinson
