Supérieur Red Bordeaux Blend

This 90% Merlot is grown directly adjacent to the Margaux property of the chateau but is entitled only to Bordeaux Superieur appellation. It’s really good and eminently drinkable. Loads of ripe, deep plummet fruit competes with cedar and rich, minerally earthy notes. In the mouth, it’s rich but not as ponderous as many ‘18s. For a weeknight-priced Bordeaux, wow!

Some might dislike the rather fruit forward style of this wine. I like it. I also like the darkly pitched fruit notes underlain with a lively sappiness. I think this will age well.

Good Bordeaux, true to style. Earthworm nose. Tastes of dark berries and pine — herbaceous. A little lean. Would probably age nicely. 90. Given the swill I’ve been drinking lately — a treat.

Garagiste selection. $15.76. A little corky.

Old world complexity

A near satisfying everyday Bordeaux. Dusty notes of roses with cherry and raspberries dominate early on. What’s lacking here is freshness, so let’s see if a few hours of air can get this BS dancing.

Delightful Bordeaux. Buy it if you see it.

This fella is mighty tasty. Orange peel on the nose. Mouthful of ripe blueberries. Hints of.cinnamon, earthy. For $24 this is killer.

Lovely cherries, vanilla, lavender, orange peel, balsamico and dried porcini mushrooms. Just some of the flavors in this complex wine. Quite light bodied for a Bordeaux, medium acidity, very long finish. Totally enjoyable!

Really enjoyed this wine. Pretty rich with some smoke and cherry where stood up to a meal of lamb. But also enjoyable and not too much on its own.
