Mayacamas Vineyards
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Enjoyed alongside some other Napa legends from the 80’s and 90’s. From the jump, a touch funky and showing a bit more green and with brighter red fruit, than the Monte Bello, Dunn Howell or Monticello tonight. Lots of life left in this but I don’t expect it to really improve much from where it is. I’d say drink now

Jul 20th, 2020I ordered this by the glass at a steakhouse which claimed they were one of ten accounts in the US to get this: Mayacamas’ younger cab from vines which were only 10-15 years old. Since they weren’t from the original vines the company removes “Mt Veeder” from the bottle and still advertise it as a Cal Cab...well for a Mayacamas product it couldn’t be further than the “real thing”. At 27$ for a glass it was a big rip off - at Bin 54 in Chapel Hill, NC. Would not recommend this. Shame on Mayacamas for putting this out, explains why only 10 accounts have it. If anyone can shed more light on this please let me know in the comments.

Oct 7th, 2019Really exceptional. Red fruits, bright acids, texturally opulent, a fine claret.
