The Barbera and Aglianico in this little friend would have been quite familiar to many of California’s early wine drinkers. 🍷 This is table wine as the Italians know it, in the tradition of those who made the journey to America and brought their grapes with them!

Blend of Aglianico, Montepulciano, and Barbera made by Steve Matthiasson. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in neutral oak. Light and refreshing with good acidity and fruit, light tannins, and only 11.5% alcohol without discernible residual sugar. The 1L bottle and crown cap are appealing. Would serve chilled as a picnic wine. $21.

Without food? Meh. With food? Delicious. The modern California equivalent to the Old World concept of Table Wine. Really delicious table wine. But make no mistake, this will never take center stage during a meal. The 1L format is great!

Enjoyed at our MDW bbq. Lots of red fruits — especially cranberry. Went well with BBQ chicken and salmon, asparagus, roasted potatoes, and corn. 🇺🇸
