Zio Tony Ranch Pinot Noir

Closed nose, but full body. Cherry, mocca, kloves.

Deep dark cherry and gets a lift from sweet strawberries. A tad syrupy. Pretty viscous on the palate. An atypical RRV for sure.

Drinking beautifully. Big and ripe but displays all the elegance of the cool vintage.

The purest nose of puréed black cherry I have ever come across. Sharp cedar and smoke, rhubarb tart pie on the nose. A wine that is worthy by nose alone. Blackberry, charred strawberry, leafy greens, and a perfect dialed down brown sugar note. Finish of sweet berry medley pie.

Promising on nose but still a big sweet Pinot bomb on palate.

Carrying the load at 16.6% alcohol

Good god this is a mess. Heat piled on disjointed candied raspberry heat. Lacks fruit, harmony and a pulse. I hope UFC 205 performs better for me than this tonight....I feel like I've been punched in the mouth already. Ouch. 🤕

Despite the lofty 15.6% alc and the 15 years of age this was actually quite decent.

2006 Martinelli Zio Tony Ranch Pinot Noir Russian River Valley - gorgeous RRV Pinot right in its drinking wheelhouse. Black cherry and black raspberry, sweet spice, hints of tar and caramel. Intensely flavored ("California") but still somewhat sprightly and balanced.

Rich ruby color. Dark cherry, tobacco, and strawberries on the nose. On the bud, it’s rich, viscous, and has candied fruits. Great with Pizza!
