Deep Ruby color with aromas of red/black fruits, floral and smoky oak. On the palate flavors of blackberry, cherry and plum flavors with garden herb notes, cacao, tobacco and toasty notes from 18 months of oak aging. Fine dusty tannins, long finish ending with fruit, vanilla and an earthy smoky spice character. Nice! Will age!

This -08 Mazzei is dark purple slightly oily; has a nose of decadent overripe dark fruit (plums, figs, mulberries), dusty ’sangiovesc’ diesel, pencil shavings, mineral and wood chips; dry on the palate with fine tannins and pleasant structure, same fruits as on the nose, and a medium-length finish. It is silkier than younger tuscans and has more earth and depth but perhaps lacking in elegans. Expected more.

Aug 17th, 2018A complete and total package for Chianti GS. Powerful crimson cherry and red flowers, iodine, black tea and vanilla bean. Could use 2-3 more years to come together. Lonnnnng finish.
