Marchesi Antinori
Badia A Passignano Gran Selezione Chianti Classico Sangiovese
Deep Ruby color with aromas of red/black fruits, floral and smoky oak. On the palate flavors of blackberry, cherry and plum flavors with garden herb notes, cacao, tobacco and toasty notes from 18 months of oak aging. Fine ripe tannins you can bite into, long finish ending with fruit and an earthy smoky spice character. Nice! Will age!

Sep 30th, 2023Big cherry, ripe and full, Tuscan leather. Bad vintage, great wine. Antinori knows what they’re doing. The age helps.

Aug 1st, 2022It’s Tuscany day in L’arangaville.
Well made Chianti. Well aged. Not the best year, but still a great wine.
You can smell the cherry from across the room.

A very nice and rounded Chianti, not as good as the 2010, however, but very soft tannins and nicely textured

Jan 8th, 2020It’s good, not gran. This wine is as good as a well-made riserva, but nothing more. That said, a well-made riserva is still quite special so don’t be misled by my harshness here. This is still an excellent Chianti.

Dec 17th, 2018The Antinori family has lived in Tuscany since the 14th century and celebrated its 625th anniversary as wine makers in 2010. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits and oak. Cherry and plum flavors with garden herb notes, cacao and toasty tones from 18 months of oak aging. Full ripe tannins you can bite into, lingering ending with an earthy spice character. Good now, will continue to improve over next few years, but why wait on this gem.

Apr 6th, 2018I always love tasting this wine. Tobacco, wilted basil, black plum, game and pepper. Round and caressing, yet still expressive of Sangiovese’s herby character. A favorite in the Antinori portfolio.
