Viré-Clessé Chardonnay

Glad I saved one of these! This thing blossomed amazingly! Butter and soft boiled eggs, marigold, brioche, apricot, lemon curd and chicken bone with a nearly translucent pineapple hint to the aromas. A smoky and austere entry last year has acquiesced to briny lemon, hazelnut oil, caperberry, sesame and flint, with a resonance bordering on chalky sunflower. Stunning. Smoky clay, peppermint, white mushroom, butternut squash.dry lemon-lime, lemon pith, tangerine pith, pineapple rind green olive, kumquat. Sounds fruity, but it is all on the Chardonnay, no oak on this beauty, and terroir for miles!! She is a natural woman, without pretense. Can tell that everything is there to be a great wine but it just feels like the age has taken a bit off of it's zippy exciting edge. Feels and tastes a little flat. Like I would have probably loved this 2 years ago...

Still solid though.

‘15 is very round and lacks acidity and feels watered-down. Miss ‘14s whites already
