2024 spring / summer. Yellow gold color. Round, fleshy, lots of sweet citrus and some stone fruit, a touch of residual sugar and no oak - this is my first time with Thevenet-Quintaine but understand this is the typical style. An interesting change of pace — 9 months ago

Nicely evolved from half bottle, with nutty aromas, ripe apple, a bit of orange blossom, a salty whiff, just a tiny hint of marcipan. So intriguing. Needs a moment in the glass to fully develop.
On the palate this starts off rich & very ripe but then the juicy acidity kicks in. And the minerality & the hint of tannin. Good depth & precision with over ripe lemons, orange peel marmalade and ripe yellow apples.

Always at least very good, this ‘22 is an excellent rendition. Of the Maconnais AOCs, I gravitate toward Vire-Clesse because I find it has a purity of Chardonnay fruit that I find very attractive. This has it, with the nose showing gorgeous apple fruit with a slight peachy note, along with subtle stony minerality. I get more of a mineral stank from the Pouilly’s and Saint-Veran than from V-C. When it’s fruit I crave, I veer towards Vire. Fairly deeply flavored, there’s nice balance on the mouth, with pretty good, integrated acids for such a hot year, and subtle minerality. Great value. — 3 days ago
