Established in 1864 near the western foothills in St. Helena by pioneer winegrower and horticulturalist John Lewelling. Deep Ruby with aromas of blue and black fruits, sweet spice and leathery notes. On the palate blackberry & cherry, bits of cacao and cinnamon, soft with fine tannins. Long finish ending with oaky notes. Was tight at tasting but opened up, decant. Tasting Sample.

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here's a fantastic #Cabernet from #NapaValley.
Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Strong fruity nose with black currants, cooked cherries, figs, raisins, vanilla, cedar, licorice, cola, chocolates, mocha, coffee, alcohol, earth, leather, smoke, tobacco leaf and black pepper.
Full bodied and gentle with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and extremely fruity on the palate with blackberries, plums, cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, coffee, raisins, chocolates, mocha, earth, leather, coke, tobacco and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Very enjoyable by itself or with food.
Still showing the high alcohol. Not fully balance yet, but so tasty. Still young, and needs 5 years in the bottle to mature and bring out more complexity.
Delicious and yummy.
I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats, cheeses and pickled vegetables.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in French oak barrels for 18 months (70% new).
15.6% alcohol by volume.

What a great find this producer was for us. This is day two, and it’s still upright. Ripe nose of solid black fruits. On the palate, the transition is seamless. Excellent density, coupled with rich maraschino cherries. In our opinion, this will cellar for many years, but best drunk now while in its prime.
It was Father’s Day, and my girls treated me like a rock star 😍

After the excellent showing of the Wight Vineyard cab, we had to try the entry-level cab. JD describes it perfectly - Bdx blend. It’s plush on the nose and palate. But it lacks the complexity that the Wight bottling presents. Having said that, it shows lots of black and blue fruits. Tannins are soft, as is the acid. Nice weight and density on the palate, with nice sweetness. Good stuff.
