La Serena
Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

Medium ruby; dark ripe fruits, baking spices and vanilla; oaky also on the taste which lasts into the finish. Made in the east in new french barriques. Because all the other wines on this tasting were made in large neutral oak, this wine stood out, and not in a good way.

Small nose, harmony, but misses everything to be thrilling

Exactly what you would want from an excellent BdM. Good stuff.

Brett (band-aid type) is a little over the top on both the nose and palate. There are still some aromas of dark cherry, caramel, and mocha with the dark cherry continuing on the palate. The finish is a little medicinal from the brett. Probably over the hill at this point and the brett is only going to get worse, so drink up.

Nice Brunello. Still very youthful. Slightly chunky tannins and a bit extracted with some new oak but showing lots of Sangiovese character.
