The most expensive Champagne in the world better be good- and it is. Thanks to Olivier Krug for sharing this incredibly exotic beauty. Only at Krug can such power be delivered so elegantly. Unforgettable with yellow fin cruda and the company.

Spectacular champagne. Also spectacularly expensive. Certainly enjoyed tasting it though.

2000 vintage. With Olivier, Stan and Jay at Krug. Deep and rich notes of citrus and stone fruits, iodine and seaweed. Toasty and bready. Very complex and concentrated. On the palate, high acidity, medium body and alcohol, deep concentration of flavour but with elegance and finesse. Very long finish. More mature and rich than I was expecting. How long this wine will develop is debatable. But in a very good place right now. Excellent.

A beautiful nose. Pretty strawberry and soft cranberry. Pinot but very balanced and crisp. Lovely mouthfeel and delicate and long. Very singular and unusual. Like an aged rose but young. Spectacular but unusual. I guess I'm not used to Bland de Noirs. Classy as hell

Uncomfortably close to perfection. I feel very fortunate, and inadequate.

Magnum 2000 Krug Clos d'Ambonnay Blanc de Noir Champagne. My fave champagne we tried onsite- 1985 Brut was close second. Pinot based. Awesome- rich with dense bubbles.

2000 vintage drunk at Clos du Mesnil. Serial no 0025. 0.68ha for this Clos du Ambonnay. Light golden hue. Ripe Apple peel. Little closed. On the palate, nutty, round and ripe. This is rich, but angular. Creamy but not fat. Slightly iodine. Broad finish. Very long. NB: when the wine warms up, the aromas come alive - beefy and Maron Glacé.
