Les Petits Monts Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Pinot Noir

A gorgeous chambolle-like nose with cherry, rose, floral notes, violet. Stunning and bright. Clearly defined and pretty on the palate. Delicious

Opened at 3pm, capped until 8pm. What was tightly wound upon original taste, unfurled beautifully to show explosive aromatics of intense high toned red fruit, exotic spices, fresh violets and just a touch of woodsmoke that’s followed by a cool mineral infusion with fine grained tannins.

The wine shows such class, focus and vibrancy, and I love the elegance of the vintage in combination with the vineyard. Takes it to another level, and it’s only going to get better. I’m definitely a big fan of Petits Monts. Along with Malconsorts, it’s hard to contest that there’s no better premier cru in Vosne Romanée than those two, located spitting distance from Richebourg and La Tâche, respectively.

Am I alone in believing this is the best wine drouhin makes?

Happiness-inducing wine.

Open and ready. Turmeric, leather , pepper and pie cherry. Powdery tannins, round palate, long finish. Drinking well.
