Côtes du Jura Poulsard Blend
Definitely needs some air time even with more than a decade of bottle age. Delicate, red berries, flower petals, saline

Oct 30th, 2021The label says to “uncork 3 to 4 hours before tasting” so I did. Pale garnet with rust on the edges, a little VA (not a bad thing) on the nose with cherries and roses. Delicate but not without structure. Red fruits, florals, licorice, dried herbs, touch of wild yeast, and a saline minerality that went great with this brined roasted bird

Dec 29th, 2019Proper, old-school European red wine. That is to say intensity mineral, firmly tannic and seemingly ageless. I'm sure some could argue that this borders under ripeness, but I would counter that a lot of long lived wines came from low alcohol years and had an abundance of acidity. Can't wait to see what this rates like in another ten years.

Light and airy on the palate with substantial length thanks to its tart berry profile and brisk yet integrated acidity. Very refined and definitely age-worthy too.

2 people found it helpfulAug 5th, 2015Jura red blends are described in Wink Lorch's Jura book as "reminiscent of Burgundies from another of age." This one is also reminiscent of an extremely good Beaujolais. Old oak, pale colour, red fruits, and a grainy, savoury quality. Light bodied but intense, it's great with chicken and roast veg. (2010)

Light-bodied maroon red with sharp tannins with tart cherry, plum, cranberry notes and a strong white tea tannins lingering on the finish. Tannins slightly chalky; needs good decanting. Fun and interesting value to try.

1 person found it helpfulOct 16th, 2020Strawberries, wild berries, cherry - abundance of red fruit on the nose. Dried herbs, some VA, then something very subtle almost like tar. On the palate, neutral old bbl funk, acid, with an almost saline mineral finish. Old school all the way. Would be interesting to revisit in another 5+ years, as long as VA isn’t on the rise.

Supple fruit in a taut frame, light and lithe on the palatte. Light but present tannins that grip as hard as their tiny hands will let them, but none the less are easily escapable. Very fun wine, good value!

May 22nd, 2017Quite the easy drinker. Thin and lithe with earthy raspberries, violet spice, hints of red currants and supple yet fluttering tannins. Some real Thursday night shit.
