2019 vintage. Great, earthy, mocha nose. Medium body. 18% Cab, 18% Franc, 64% Merlot. Slightly dryer style. Obvious class afoot but not super-demonstrative. 940 cases made. Unfined and unfiltered. 11.15.24.

A Merlot dominated blend from Carneros, the 2019 Hudson Phoenix shows a medium to deep purple color and bursts from the glass with well-defined aromas of red and black plum, blackberries, raspberries, red currant, menthol and hints of graphite. Medium to full-bodied, the mouthfeel is characterized by soft, polished tannins, a crisp acidity and excellent fruit concentration. Drink now until 2035

68% Merlot. 32% Cabernet Franc. I don’t drink wines like this often, and I’m now reminded why as it’s not my style, but I can certainly appreciate it for what it is: a nicely done, medium-bodied blend with food appeal. Notes of bell peppers, eucalyptus, red fruits, and potpourri.

Maybe its was a bad year but definitely not my favorite. In the beginning it seemed to have too much. It mellowed out and then went flat. Got it at our all time favorite restaurant Concetta
