Henri Giraud
Fût de Chêne Brut Grand Cru Champagne Blend
Outstanding nose of honey, nougat, and toast; but on the palate it is clear this bottle is past its peak!

Nov 13th, 2020The MV 10 Fut de Chêne is a blend of 70% 2010 and 30% reserve wines. The flavors are bright, focused and lifted throughout. Even so, there is plenty of underlying Aÿ depth. Lemon confit, chamomile, mint and dried flowers are some of the signatures. Now that the Fut de Chêne perpetual reserve has a few more vintages in it, this cuvée is gaining in complexity, which is of course great to see. The MV 2010 needs at least six months in bottle to recover from its disgorgement. Even so, it is impressive today. Dosage is 8 grams per liter. Disgorged December 6 2016. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2017)

Jan 12th, 2018NV. Base wine 2007. Fut de Chene. At Texture. One step below the Argonne from this producer. Ay based producer known for Pinot Noir dominant wines. Lovely nose - rich deep golden hue (indicative of new oak / oxidation maturation), lots of rich creamy oak notes. Oxidative style. On the palate, very rich - maybe too rich - round and slightly fat. Apricot, butterscotch and nuts. Decent length. Not bad at all if you are a fan of the style.

1 person found it helpfulOct 29th, 2015one of my favourite producer of sparkling pleasure.
my only reservation was the sweetness (i usually prefer zero dosage to be honest) - but it all went crazy after almost two hours: the fût de chêne opened up like hell, the sweetness integrated, simply put FUN, HARMONY, BLISS.
hence my advise to open it in time resp. to decant it even!

MV10, Dégorgement: 12/2016, Dosage: 4.5g/l, 70% '10, Intense, touch of oak showing, but it really accents the intensity of fruit, layers of complexity, would love to see it with a little more bottle time, but showing really well.

Very nice #champagne I was told that its flavor profile resembles the winemaker at Henri Giraud, a tall and strapping man who loves a good cigar. It's bold and corpulent and is a full-on expression of the oxidative style
