Hartford Court
Fog Dance Vineyard Pinot Noir
Medium reddish purple in color. Freshly cut mint, black cherry, wet leaves, and tobacco are evident on the nose. It’s medium bodied with voluptuous dark fruit on the palate which borders on sappy but is complimented by some spice and a somewhat savory quality. The above is backed up by a structure of fine grained tannins and a nice balancing acidity with 14.6% alcohol. Élevage in 33% new French oak for 17 months. Should please fans of the big Pinot style championed by Kosta Browne and others. $70.

Sep 15th, 2018Thursday night before the 4th of July weekend. This is kind of a prep before the fireworks. This bottle was a wine not on my radar. It was an end of bin sale item and thought I would try it out.
The 2012 Hartford Court Fog Dance Vineyard RRV Pinot Noir. What a beautiful California Pinot from the RRV. I am not normally a big fruit forward in your face Pinot, but this one is really an eye opener.
At first opening the aromas came wafting over me like a fruit orchard on a hot summer day. Notes of black cherry, raspberry, cranberry, clove vanilla and charcoal meld together to make a wonderful harmonious blanket.
Upon first sip and rolling across my tongue is a medium to full bodied wine. Acidity on the higher end that stings the tongue, with a silky medium tannins that round out the long finish that lingers that seems never ending.
Lush fruit jumps across the tongue exciting the palate confirming the nose. Fruit forward black cherry, cranberry, blackberry, with caramel, clove and cola highlighting the fruit.
Definitely has surprised me and a very enjoyable Pinot from the RRV.
Let's all have a very wonderful and safe 4th of July weekend.
Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷

Dec 21st, 2015Coffee, vanilla, plums, raisins on the nose. Light to medium fruit with hints of coffee, caramel, toasted oak, and a hint of tannins. This has a nice balance of fruit, spice and tannins, but is a little light for my taste. This bottle is quite enjoyable, but Hartford has others that are better.

Oct 21st, 2020The darker, more herbal side of Hartford pinot noir is on display here. A smoky, wet earth nose with notes of mushroom and black fruits. The plate is lush but also lean with lots of acidity and very soft tannins. Earth and juicy fruit battle to a draw at this point in the wine’s life making it a wonderful compliment to a wide variety of foods, in this case, pork chops. Very good.

Sep 3rd, 2018A spectacular nose of black, stewed plum, blackberry, dark cherries, sandalwood, leather, and cloves. The palate is lush and lively for a pinot with some age and great acidity. Juicy flavors of black cherries, black raspberries, plums and even a touch of orange rind lead to notes of cola, leather, oak, cloves and dried spice. The layers of fruit continue through the amazing long finish complimented by big acidity and continued spice. While this still has life to spare it's in a wonderful spot. Awesome!
