Gundlach Bundschu
Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Exceeds expectations. Nice structure and balance.

Dec 8th, 2019Tight tannins. A great wine I think, but probably needs 5 years of rest - minimum. Or a tomahawk steak right now.

May 3rd, 2019A blend of 89% Cab Sauv, 6% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec & 2% Merlot, aged in French oak, 45% new. Dark Ruby with aromas of ripe black fruits and sweet herb notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, cherry and currants with cacao and cedar notes. Firm tannins, good balance with acidity, medium+ finish with oaky herb ending.

Oct 29th, 2020Love this winery, and have had several of their wines that age really well. I really liked this one. Nice nose and smooth taste.

Apr 19th, 2020This is a terrific cab from the Sonoma Valley AVA with excellent concentration and depth. The red fruits stood shoulder to shoulder to black fruits, giving the wine a fresh feel. Medium to full body with plush tannins.
I have not heard of the winery before this bottle, and was so surprised to learn that Gundlach Bundschu is the 2nd oldest winery in the California, and has been continuously owned by the same family since 1858. Talk about history!
