The 2016 Barbera d'Alba Piani is powerful but also nuanced, with a good sense of transparency that gives the flavors definition and cut. Dark red cherry, lavender, spice and rose petal add brightness to this potent, richly constituted Barbera from Giorgio Pelissero. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, March 2020)

Black fruit. Nice richness and structure with a strong pulse of acidity.

A very complex nose, with plenty of scrub herbs, red fruit and hints of coffee. Medium bodied, tannins well handled, good acidity and tipicity

An earthy, fruity nose. Berry taste followed by a rough, tannic chalky finish. Needs about an hour to open then the finish changes to less chalky and more complex fruit. You can really taste the old world, earthy grape. A great wine for the price. Would like to try different vintages.

Big and pretty. I generally like leaner Barberas, but this was quite delicious.

Rich dark fruits with a touch of barrique aging. Needs food to tame. Not my favorite style but good nonetheless

Super smooth, easy to drink, more interesting than Merlot!

Nice and well balanced with sweet and ripe Barbera fruit jumping from the glass. On the palate it does lack multiple elements of greatness, but it's honest and straightforward delivering pure fruit and juicy acidity.
