This afternoon at a late lunch we were served the 2011 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo.

In the nose there was cherry, strawberry, plum, licorice, dried roses, spice, tar, ckay pot and dusty earth.

On the palate there was strawberry, cherry, raspberry, red currant, anise, spice, leather and earth.

This wine is full bodied with a smooth velvety mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium + grippy mouthcoating tannins that seemlessly move to a long red and dark fruit dusty earth finish. Definitely a nice bottle of wine and would gladly have this bottle again. We have had hot weather this week which has broke us out of the 40 and 50 degree weather. It has been definitely needed and seems to have woken everyone out of their winter malaise. I wish everyone a wonderful weekend. Please stay safe and healthy, Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Big, dark, brooding. Coravind this a few weeks ago but it was about 3/4 full. Showing great tonight with plenty of fruit and tannin.

Garnet in color, nice rim variation, sediment, wet earth mushroom, truffle, smooth but powerful tannins, acid holding all together...and drinking at Borgogno!

Old reddish amber color. Still with lots of life. Notes of tea, roses and a little tar. Still has a core of fruit in the mouth. No tannins but still is structured. Nice to show the group where a Barolo can go with 70 years

Good, fairly lean and tannins a little grippy yet. Still a little young for a Barolo. But still would drink relatively soon as it seems a little tired...but could just be this bottle..

Oh, the joy! Today is a wonderful and long awaited day, because today the other half of this duo became a father! To honor this we enjoy a real beauty!
