Etichetta Bianca (White Label) Carema Nebbiolo

Popped and poured; enjoyed over two days. Best on Day 1 as it started to lose balance on Day 2. As such, these notes describe Day 1. The 2014 “Etichetta Bianca” pours a pale, slightly hazy garnet color with a translucent core. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of bright, funky red fruits: cherries, raspberries, strawberries, with red flowers, leather, mushroom and a pleasant whiff of barnyard. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish long and full of zippy, tangy fruit. This is hitting right and showing remarkable character. Drink now.

Barnyard notes along with some poached tart red fruits and chestnut. Red clay, rock candy, dried savory. Good development.

Still a baby. Still glorious. There is a reason this wine blows me away every single time. Needs pasta.

Dried out and oxidized. Either bad storage or a faulty closure. But some pretty aromatics on day two, under the dead underbrush.

We had this at diner at Union Square Cafe last week. Crushed flowers, mint, dark fruits, leather, tobacco. Medium bodied, elegant, full of fruit and deceivingly accessible. No rush. Recommended.

First bottle was badly corked and this second bottle is lovely. Berries, roses, and leather. Delicate and persistent.

This went fast. Elegant with authority.

A-freaking-mazing. Red wine perfection.

Silky Nebbiolo with violet, plums and black cherry notes. Not much earth in the wine, more fruit than soil. Very drinkable, but not at this price point.
