Decanted for 90 min, after its reticent and tightly coiled initial taste. Near peak but with the stuffing to hold for at least 5 more years, dried black and red fruits, worn leather, animale, rosemary. Very good depth and complexity. Persistent finish. Beaucastel always a pleasure and with minimal price inflation, it’s almost a value wine now.

Delicate, and pleasantly elegant from a magnum. Cleaner, or better integration of funk, than I’d imagined. No hurry here.

Slightly cloudy garnet ruby core . Some herbal and slightly funky undergrowth , dried red fruits, dried mushroom , tobacco and dried spices, touch medicinal also. On the palate still some fruit , dried red cherry, those sous bois notes , rose and spice , liquorice . Balanced acidity, noticeable slightly angular tannin. Ok length with just a touch of warmth , slightly smoky finish . This is mature and should be drunk as I don’t see it improving. Drink Now and next 5 years .

Smooth moves. That’s a prime final final.

En magnum. Dark-fruited, medium-bodied, a bit closed initially, structure shows up in the finish, definitely clean with no detectable Brett, medium-long finish, solid.
