Pícaro del Águila Viñas Viejas Ribera del Duero Tempranillo

I really love this wine, biological.. smooth and with a great persistent. It is not too much alcoholic even if it is 14°.

A magnificent Tempranillo, still a little young

Deep purple color, intense nose with blackberry, black current and dark chocolate. Lots of body, violet notes, super grippy tannins, minerality comes through as wet gravel and hot asphalt. Medium plus plus acidity, lots of time to age. Needs to breath before drinking. Sweet finish. Cool label. Overall quite amazing!

Intensely floral aromatics featuring lavender and violets, a elegant fruity core composed of blackberries with some blueberries that lead to a slightly sauvage note followed by a earthy profile with some oriental spices, and stone dust. Sweet dark fruit flavors on entry that lead to a refreshing balsamic midpalate followed by an intense chalky minerality that seems to cool the palate which culminates with an explosion of oriental spices, and elegant yet chewy tannins. I particularly like the elegance and cohesion in this wine, it is drinking beautifully now while the 2014 seems a bit massive and going into deep slumber.

This is good stuff. Could use some time but still immensely enjoyable. When the oak integrates this will be superb.

Tinto Fino that balances power and freshness exceptionally well. Ribera wines are high altitude and this shows the clean, red and blue fresh and bright fruit. Oak is used but seems to be mostly from used barrels as its not glaringly apparent in the wine. The tannins are young, ripe, and add the right amount of sturdiness to this young, deliciously wine. #aguila

Capa y densidad media alta, en nariz naranja alcohólica amarga, ciruela negra y frutas rojas maduras, manzanilla pan tostado. En boca buena entrada, secante en el paso, buen tanino y final potente y con un recorrido brutal.

Scoring this again because this shits bangin’. Earthy blueberries. Extreme freshness. Very fine tannins at the end. Closeout at K&L for $26 I bought the last of their stock. Would be excellent at the original $35 price.
