This is a nice entry level Bordeaux from the Rothschild family.

Full bodied and rich, with medium plus acidity.

Very dry on the palate with mild complexity.

Showing blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, chocolates, oak, light vanilla, earth, licorice, leather, pencil lead, peppercorn, tobacco leaf, dark coffee and black tea.

Nice finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 5 year old is starting to drink nicely now, and will be good in the next 5 years.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly. A bit unbalanced, but very enjoyable, even by itself.

A good wine to pair with food too. I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$53.

Had my last 2010 and opened it last night, with a little disappointment. The wine lost its luster and complexity and surely was no longer a $55 wine. The Rothschild family has owned the estate for five generations (since 1868). A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, deep cloudy red with fruit and floral aromas. Flavors of tart cherry and earthy notes, simple and pleasant but not enticing. Tannins were soft, finish was short, wine is past its prime. If you have one drink it yesterday!

Warm earth, cinnamon and clove, black cherry, violets, roses, fungal hyphae, split bones and gingerbread. Medium mouthfeel that suggests oregano, white pepper, nickel, grill char, graphite, smoke, and cassis berry. This is great young; got it just before shutdown. #pauillac #baronsderothschild #bordeaux #frenchred #leftbank

2000 Barons de Rothschild Pauillac, #Bordeaux. Dark, black cherry, plum, fig, graphite, firm tannins. Needs more time. Definitely a ripe vintage and done in a new works style. #wine #

The Rothschild family has owned the estate for five generations (since 1868). A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, deep red with fruit, floral and sweet oaky spice aromas. Flavors of ripe cherry and cacao, good structure and balance with silky tannins carry to lingering finish. Nice now.

Was a little disappointing given the #Lafite provenance. Still quite tight after an hour. Gonna hold the rest of my bottles for a while

Great QPR which I don't say a lot in Bordeaux. This needs mucho time as the tannins are overwhelming--but all the iron, dirt, bell pepper, cigar box, and menthol you'd want wrapped up in a modest price tag!
