Fragrant, honeyed nose. Quite a bit of ginger, floral but not high toned; bruised flowers that are less fresh than caramelized. Actually smells like Sauternes, and the texture is similar. Dense and unctuous, but only a little sweet, the acid very much in balance. Resonating ginger spiciness, and vegetal, herbal bitterness on the palate and long finish. Complex. A lot more interesting intellectually than enjoyable for me at this point, but then again I don’t drink a lot of Gewürztraminer, so may have yet to acquire the taste.

Gratifying #alsace #gewurztraminer. Off-dry style, great choice for a highly acclaimed fine dining Indian restaurant. Honeysuckle, jasmine, lemon gummy nose, glossy honeyed texture and taste on palate, touch of bitter citrus on the finish and a hint of spice. The generous RS only left me wishing I had ordered my Amritsari cod with a considerably spicier masala than default, as this wine could easily stand up to the heat.
