Les Caillerets Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay
What a marvelous Pinot Noir from...Chassagne-Montrachet? Makes one wonder if the white Montrachet truncations should be left to Chevaliers and Bâtards and Puligniers? Don't get me wrong; I enjoy Chassagne a la Chardonnay as much as the next guy but perhaps these soils are better suited for reds of a fine jones elegance.

Sep 4th, 2015Nicely balanced wine with minerality and crisp stone fruit on the palette. This wine paired as well with salmon and cheese as it did with roasted duck breast!

Jul 31st, 2020Medium yellow. Aromas of citrus ( lemon) and some pear. Crisp on the palate with strong citrus (again lemon) and a hint of flint? On the finish.

Jun 8th, 20192008 vintage. At Groucho Club. Medium lemon hue. On the nose, apricot, peach, stone minerality - very appealing if rather ripe for a Chassagne. Medium plus concentration of aromas. Developing. On the palate, medium plus acidity, medium alcohol, full concentration of flavours and long finish. Surprisingly good! Real find. Very approachable. Another great example of why 2008 vintage is underrated. Drink now until 2024.
