Always impressed that you can have this kind of Pinot Noir in Japan. Hints or spice and herbs on the palate along with the following wild strawberries and cherries. Complex with smooth tannins and long finish.

How does one tidy up a #day of #snowboarding? with a bottle of #pinotnoir from #japan of course. scents of tilled, damp soil, freshly scattered mulch, broken brambles, & slivers of pata negra follow thru on a palate highlighted by memory evoking flavours of pleasingly tart, just picked red huckleberries while traipsing thru a temperate #rainforest in Southeastern Alaska. Pretty damn expressive & heaps tasty. Get some. #nanatsumori by Domaine Takahiko Soga. Something to linger over, the elemental urgency, litheness & raw, electro beauty of this wine.

Japanese Pinot noir, clean, focused, laser acidity, cranberry, lime zest, very light but none of the funk or odd characters one might expect from a pioneering wine region, legit and unique Pinot

Believe the hype. A big sweaty vegetal savory note- celery?? chartreuse?? - cloaked in velvet. Something Burgundian yet totally sui generis. Fabulous texture, seductive nose. Thanks to @Geoff Franz

Let the funk blow off for about 15-20mins, then you are left with an elegant and silky pinot with supple fruit and tannins. Looooong finish with just the right acidity. My mind is blown at the fact that you can produce this type of high quality pinot noir in Japan. Amazing!

This is a wonderful Pinot Noir but it needs time to open up to expose its true fruits. One should not seek to compare it to Burgundian Pinot’s simply because Japanese wine is inherently different.

One could call this a cult wine. Took a while to come by this producer in Japan, but finally found it off-the-beaten track, in Hamamatsu. I reckon it needs time, super reductive on the nose and palate, finally revealed some fruit 2 hours in. Sour cherry and ume to me, sauvage, elegant for sure, heaps of acid.
