Domaine Sangouard-Guyot
"Ancestral" Pouilly-Fuissé Chardonnay

Intense nose after a little air. Lemon oil, crushed limestone, not-quite-ripe peach. Lively in the mouth, with freshness galore and lots of clean stony minerality over citrusy fruit. Excellent but unforced acids. Ideally I’d like a bit more depth, but the balance on this is impeccable.

Blast of sulfur on opening, needed a decant. Underneath is a linear, focused chard, fun to drink and easy to enjoy. Sunny and bright. Peach, fennel and herbs on the palate with a mineral finish. I like the pithy texture. Well done and an excellent value at €14.

Good stuff. Would love to see it in a few years.

Good pouilly-fuisse. Good pairing with monkfish from Bonefish Grill. Peach, apricot. Medium-length finish. Great mouthfeel. I little oak(?) which slightly detracts from the overall taste. Drink with food.
