Not a fan of most Chinons Blanc, as they often start life lean and mean, then go absolutely nowhere. This, however, is that rare exception: already tender and alluring, showing acacia, melon, honeysuckle and wet gravel, with an unctuous texture and a fair dash of residual sugar (albeit perfectly balanced by massive acids). Fabulous.

Dec 8th, 2019Why you don’t even bother opening Chinon Blanc until it’s had a few years in the bottle. What was simple, raw and mean in its youth is now becoming a fresh, focused and pure expression of bone dry Chenin. Fantastic. #gasnier #cheninblanc #chinon

Nov 27th, 2018Man oh man is this singing. So vividly rendered and alive at five years young. A little gushy at first. Ripe but not flamboyant, showing starfruit, mango, and orange marmalade character with a spicy, gingery edge. Air educes a bit more of the classic chenin funk, with straw and musky honey tones that make this irresistible. Time has perhaps tempered this wine's minerality just a smidge, but it's still present and wonderfully complemented by nervy acids and flavors of preserved lemon and gingery spice. Drink up over the next two years. A real treat at this price point.
