Monthly WTF wine group night. Our theme was American oak vs French oak. All wines tasted blind. We started off with two bottles of bubbly and finished with two non-themed reds.
One of the most unique, and enjoyable, rosés I’ve had in a while. More orange than pink in the glass. As expected, herbal and musty aromatics with underripe nectarine and black cherry skin. Soft and round on the palate with additional note of tart rhubarb. Complex. Thanks @Jack Thompson — 9 days ago
Deep ruby and garnet color. Savory aromas of game, roasted red peppers and raspberry. Medium body, medium plus acidity, medium tannins. Solid wine — 24 days ago
Black cherry and raspberry berry fruits flavors. Herbals notes like bell pepper and I also taste some minerals in the wine. Really good sipper on a summers night. — 12 days ago
Fascinating...all barnyard on the open, then aired into great stuff. Like drinking 3 different wines in one bottle — a month ago
a very good cab franc. reminds me of Paleo but on a less ripe version. No Brett or reduction....smell of small red berries, riper peppers and a touch of graphite. Second day it began to shut down but was more balanced. No touching my other ones for 4 or 5 years — 18 days ago
Clean, authentic Loire character, excellent density and proportion, controlled vivacity, forward but has a good reserve, transparent without exposing too much. — 2 days ago
Black cherry & raspberries, with earthy notes. Faint band aid aromas suggests a little brett, but not overwhelming & adds interest to the wine. — 2 days ago
