Clos de la Barre Meursault Chardonnay

Very watery, no burn, flat

The 2015 Meursault Clos de la Barre has a simple nose that gains intensity with aeration, offering light pithy pear and peach skin scents and just a touch of Vervain tea. The palate is cohesive, and the oak is nicely assimilated with a fine bead of acidity. This is turning into an elegant Clos de la Barre, and given that it is a mere Village Cru, there is commendable tension on the finish, perhaps having evolved a touch more mineralité than the previous bottle that I tasted. Either heavily reduced or a bit pox’d. Medium gold color. A nose that isn’t exciting. Lacking acidity. Not what you hope for.

Gorgeous, fresh and focused. Flint. Matchstick, gentle lime. Delicate acidity.. really good

Fresh and bright. Citrus (almost grapefruit) salinity and lime. Poised and clear. Excellent

Showing so well out of Mag! Perfect amount of reduction, but only adding to its appeal not getting in the way of its ripe yellow fruit expression and waves of gorgeous white flowers. Lovely!

Gone… oxidized

Stunning wine amazing citrus notes, green pineapple, green banana, medium plus acidity.

Intense reduction initially before giving way to white flowers, citrus blossoms, toasted coconut, and chalky minerals. Laser acidity with great cut, energy and intensity. Finishes long and focused with lots of tension. Excellent.
