Vintage 2019 | Solid and true to type Cabernet Franc that gives much pleasure. Paired with tenderloin paksoi

Ruby with aromas of berry fruits, herb and floral spice, from 30-year old vines. On the palate flavors of red berry fruits, herbs and pepper spice, vivid acidity, fine tight tannins with medium finish ending with earthy spice. Drink now, pair this with a roasted Turkey with a mushroom gravy.

Mushrooms, red hots, and cherry chapstick might not sound like a great combination… but I liked it! (Just like a Katy Perry song).

Manure and violets and perfumed red fruit. Not a lot of concentration, drink now.

On the verge of a Bret bomb. But.... the wine is there. Cherry syrup, pencil shavings, earth, iodine, hay, chalky minerality and nice acid.

New vintage - not sure if vintage variation or palate evolving but this is downright drinkable right from the bottle. Flush with ripe wild raspberry and blackberry, purple flowers and fresh green herbs, certainly some Brett and rich earth. Good acid and minimal tannin. Reaction around the table not so friendly - father says too earthy, Meg makes a face. I’m loving it! Enjoyed with reverse-seared NY Strip, heavy rosemary-garlic butter baste.

Funky barnyard nose, mineral, astringent palate. Definitely best when paired with fatty food like soft cheese or fatty proteins

Note just typed on Delectable has disappeared so will type again. It will probably turn up sometime in the future. Lunch at Gerard’s Bistro in Brisbane - a delicious Lebanese take on Quail. Aromas of wilted red rose, green capsicum, and fresh Leather. Typical descriptors for Old world Cabernet Franc. Judging by this wine I need to drink more Chinon Cabernet Franc.

I think this is great for the price. Needs a bit of time to open up, and I thought it drank better on day 2. For me, classic tea notes, classic Cab Franc.

Easy drinking yet quite elegant for an entry level bottle. Tart cherry and wild raspberry, mint, pyrazine, pencil shavings. Palate is fruit driven, a touch green and stemmy. Juicy acid and soft restrained tannin. Balanced, quaffable, and with some interest - a perfect weeknight bottle.
