Fully mature, this delicious Riesling’s nose features honey, dried apricot, petrol-like minerality, and gravelly earth. Very sensual. Soft, round, and mouthfilling, it’s slightly sweet and has a darker personality than one would expect from a Riesling. Long, lip-smacking finish. The acids are soft, but it still seems balanced, albeit on the voluptuous side.

😍 High minerality: clay, mushroom, truffle. Honey, ginger, beeswax, smoke, cardamom at the back, honeysuckle, stewed stone fruits 🍑, ripe/baked apple and pear. Ripe citrus. Tropical notes as well. Yellow/gold. Medium plus body, higher than high acidity.

Love this wine. It goes very well with a Red Sox blow out of the Texas Rangers.

Seriously, this biodynamically-grown wine needs air to come alive. Just after popping the cork, it seems flat and uninteresting. But over the course of a couple of hours the acidity perks up, and gorgeous scents of ripe apple, petrol, popcorn, and honey come out to play. Rich and mouthfilling. Just filled with flavor. A bit sweeter than feinherb (I wish Alsace had a sweetness framework/ nomenclature like Germany). Long long finish.

Iron fist in chainmail glove. Bone dry in '13 (Maxime's first 'solo' vintage). Preserved lemon, dense and oily, super-saline; commanding. Astonishing length and persistence; easily a 25+ year wine. A stallion, indeed. #alsace #barmesbuecher #riesling

Iron fist in velvet glove, to a T. Evolving slowly; golden, but with no real hints of oxidation and decades ahead of it. Powerful, with lots of cut. A stallion for sure.

This is a uniquely-styled magnificent Riesling. Nose shows lots of botrytis: honeyed, dark minerals, dried apricot. Seemed a little flat in the mouth initially, but with air some sneaky acidity showed up and brought it together. Great intensity of flavors: stones and minerality for days accompany bitter honey and apricot. Off dry. Ridiculous length. Finish goes on and on.

Deep bright gold color is striking. Nose changes minute by minute. Intensely feral/earthy/savory, with black tea and deeply minerally earth, raw honey, and apricot pit. Rich, big and broad in the mouth. Feinherb level sweetness. Minerally, savory finish lasts a very long time. This wine demands contemplation. With a tad more acidity, this wine's rating would be in the stratosphere.
