Very ripe example of #cabernetsaugvinon from #pasoroblescab not bad for the price, but not great either.

Fruit driven. Oak and depth were lacking.

Solid Daou. But very young wine. Will be interesting to see the fruit forwardness integrate and mellow over time.

Surprisingly nice for the price point. Full of cherries on the nose. Drinks like a much more expensive bottle of wine.

Lush paso fruit, sweet smoke, licorice flavors. Great cab for sub 25

Exciting to taste the '15 vintage. Young, but beautiful. Will be a great wine two years from now. Rating upped from 9.1 11/5/16. Rating re-affirmed 3/30/17. Still young and powerful, but more settled and starting to shine. WS 93pts 10/2017. Tasting 4/20 - incredibly smooth now. Rating upped to 93.

The winery is over the top to visit. Unfortunately, the wine is just a little over average. I bought this at Costco for $20 after a $30 tasting at the hill top winery. C'mon, Daou, be reasonable.

In hills of Paso Robles, not far from Hearst castle, there is a man with a Homeric vision. His name is Daniel Daou and he is devoting his life to creating outstanding Cabernet’s. Deep red with complex dark berry nose, aged for 11 months on French oak (60% new). On the palate blackberry, tart cherry and a licorice twist, gentle background spice with savory fine tannins. Medium+ finish ending with cacao and earthy herbs. Great value. I also tried the Reserve which is something special.

Fruit forward, will benefit from more age. Was nice with a sizzling hunk of beef.

A lot of layers; black raspberry, cassis, spice and licorice. This young Cab will only get better. Picking up on chocolate and plum too. Chewy texture.
