Deep garnet with a tawny rim. A savoury earthy mushroom note coming through - also balsamic notes. Fading red cherry on the palate. An excellent Brunello from a good vintage, travelling well at 15 years. A fabulous food wine with homemade fettuccine. I will probably drink my last bottle in 2027/28 although I have a drinking window through to the early 2030s.

Starting to oxidize. Ripe fruit. Strawberry jam, cornmeal and dried flowers. Dry in general with pronounced tannins. Not a huge fan. #brunellodimontalcino #tuscanwine #italianwines #overpriced

Half-bottle so I said, why not. Pound for pound my favorite Montalcino producer. Intense color and intense focus. Frankly way too young but will be glorious and this is one for the long, long haul. Dried fruits of dark cherry and plum, savory herbs, roast espresso, licorice and lavender all wrapped in serious balance. Incredible elegance will develop in time.

Tremendous intensity of ripe cherry, with amaro-like herbal complexity and well-integrated wood. Reasonably fresh and lively despite its serious weight and structure. Drink now, or give it a decade or two
