I can reliably be counted on to like Moulin-a-Vent the least, of all the Beaujolais crus. Usually I find them too tannic and astringent, and by the time that settles down, the Gamay fruit is gone. But . . . I like this one a lot. The tannins are nicely managed. Nose is quite complex, with underbrush, deep crumbly granite, and dark, plummy Gamay fruit. Almost a little animal note. In the mouth, it’s rich and minerally. Acids are a bit low (‘18 was hot!), but the balance is nice right now. Finish is long, with some very soft tannin making itself known at the tail end. Nice!

This is pretty damn amazing. Ripe, luscious and irresistible. Candied and caramelized red and blue fruits.

Light body, with intense, lovely fruit—dark cherry and strawberry compote that lingers with the bright acid. So good. The pizza overwhelmed it but as an afta-party it’s perfect 👌🏾

Ripe, spiced, floral and quite juiced on all fronts. A more hedonistic and structured Gamay that behaves like a NW wine. Some heat on the back in but fun

Developing beautifully in the glass - potpourri aromas balance out the ripe fruit.

A little bit of funky forest floor on the nose, but also some plum. Full bodied and structured tannins, dark cherry and almost cranberry in the mouth, some earthiness and cooking spices too. Lingers. Agree with others that this will age and mellow well!

Very young! Approachable now but no rush and this will drink well for several more years. Definitely more of a fuller body and only 14% abv. BlackBerry, plum, earthy, and a slight mint on the palate. Very good now but in 2-5yrs this will be great!

This right here is some bomb Gamay. Funky nose with some restrained fruit and earthy undertones. A velvety palate with nice complexity. Plums, cherries, and white chocolate. There's dirty forest, licorice, and silky tannins. Gorgeous Old World minerality and a long, fruity finish. This might just inspire me to jump back into the other side of Burgundy.

2011. Really yummy. Nose is reticent but there's a musty earthiness with a bright red fruit/cherry aspect. Nice subtle chalky minerality with decent structure that carries through the finish. Mature and self-possessed. 12.5 % ABV
