Good old-fashioned style claret. Saturated color. Nose has cedar, smoky gravel, a subtle menthol note, and cassis fruit. Equal parts dark fruit and gravelly minerality in the mouth. Dry impression, and no extra fat on this one. Tannins are soft and don’t intrude.

Drank 6/20/2021.
Happy Fathers Day!

Black cherry, earth, leather, and truffle on the nose. On the palate, red and black cherry, earth, leather, are accompanied by medium tannins that are well integrated at this point, but still quite present. Long finish goes on for over a minute.

Stewed red fruit, mocha, a little green pepper/ beany quality. Savory (the herb), and bay on the nose. Broad, muscular, but not over extracted, and with decent acid, if not bursting with energy. A fine claret- looking forward to another bottle in 5-10 years.

Y2000 produced a very good outcome. Cherry cola, dark cocoa, rivers of blackberry and currants.

A ravishing wine. Concentrated black cherry fruit, with a tart baked quality rather than roasted, with mocha, followed by a medley of tertiary flavors; sous bois, animal hide, hot clay, and especially truffle. With extended air time, the animal aromatics are subdued and better integrated, and the fruit becomes seemingly fresher, and unlit tobacco on the finish. Velvety tannins and salubrious acidity. Throws a good bit of sediment.

Still young. But classic. Scorched earth, tweed jacket, mulberry, spice, leather. Insane concentration and finesse. Terrific velvety tannins. Top stuff.
