Château La Pointe
Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend
Still showing some overt oak but also good integration and flavor depth. Meaty yet fresh fruit.

Mar 7th, 20232019 vintage. A nice surprise compared to the caricatural 2020. Very attractive nose with ripe red fruit and flowers. Already very accessible with good concentration, balancing acidity and a very nice mineral finish with good length.

Feb 17th, 2022Deep Ruby with aromas of black fruits, herb and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and black cherry with currants, cacao and earthy herb spice. Fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit and earthy spice. Tasting well now!

Apr 30th, 2021Saturday afternoon and the wine I have chosen is the 2016 Château La Pointe. A right bank Bordeaux from Pomerol that is a blend of 87% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose there is black cherry, raspberry, ripe plum, black currant, cocoa, sweet tobacco, cola syrup and gravel.
On the palate there is black cherry, raspberry, plum, bell pepper, black currant, white pepper and gravel.
This is a full bodied wine with a velvety mouthfeel, medium + acidity and fine sandy tannins that moves very well to a long dark fruit gavel finish. A wonderful wine for a winderful weekend. I hope everyone is still well, healthy and safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Time for some #MerlotThursday.
This is a very young,
yet approachable, Right Bank Bordeaux with a soft and elegant mouthfeel.
Dry and fruity on the palate with wood, vanilla, earth, spices, leather, tobacco, milk chocolates, black pepper, vegetables, bitter herbs and peppercorn.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and nice legs.
Long finish with grippy tannins and tangy cranberries.
Already delicious and will age nicely in the next 15 years. Needs 3 hours to open up properly.
A blend of 83% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc.
14% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
$60.

This one has the stuffing to be good in the long run, but it needs more time. Soft nose of sweet kirsch, red flowers. Palate has some intense berry fruit and a slight muskiness but it’s very tightly wound and not really coming out to play. Revisit in 5-8.

Jul 6th, 2018Classic right bank, great blue fruit and clove flavors. 85/15 merlot/Cab Franc. This was quite young but still was good. Bet it will be better in 5 -7 years.
