One moment rich and dense and boisterous. One moment soft and elegant. Still trying to work through the story it’s trying to tell, but it’s an intricate one worth listening to.

Drank 1/18/19 at the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux event in Miami.  All wines from the 2016 Vintage.

Tasting pour, no formal notes taken.  Most of these wines are very tight, and will require 5-15 years to really come together.  Many will likely improve a few points with time.

Nice, but a few steps behind the GPL.

Vintage 2000 / Italian tiles colour at the rim. Bouillon. Tobacco. Eucalyptus. Plums. Cedar. Rondeur and refinement. I swallowed t before thinking ‘spit it out’ when tasting it 🤭

Mid to light bodied, pretty but not overly exciting. Near term drinking.

Dark Ruby with rich black fruit aromas and a spicy edge. On the palate ripe flavors of blackberry and black plum with notes of licorice. Well structured, still showing grippy tannins on long finish. Should keep developing for some time.

Beautiful Minty, meaty nose with beautiful balance and some delicacy from age but sustains a great finish. Pure joy!

Very impressive showing.
Lots of rich dark fruit on the nose. On the palette, the wine displays a wonderful structure. Tannins are immature, but well poised. Mid palette has notes of sandalwood and asian spice, with a plush texture. Finishes moderately sweet. This need another 3-5 yrs in bottle, but it should evolve to be something special.

A ferrous nearly sanguine Bordeaux that is rather more handsome than beautiful in that this Pauillac is masculine in its sandalwood, cedar plank, a cassis black currant and red plum, a wood smoke and a leathern and aromatic hardwoods with a breath of air only improving this all the more -remarkable! Thank you John and Peter Wackel!
